CHALLENGE ACCOMPLISHMENT # 18
THE RESOLUTION: Make Something Artsy
Apron; a gift as well
My very first creation on the sewing machine! I seriously expected some wound up, unexplainable mess but I am indeed flabbergasted with my results. This apron looks pro! :) Of course I must give credit to the fact that I made this throughout my first course (See: http://thirteensquared13.blogspot.ca/2013/03/cover-story.html) so naturally I had a lot of help. But still, I am proud of myself and my first artsy creation accomplishment.
Oh and my mom is a big winner too. As a thank you for the machine, she is now the proud owner of beautiful and totally handy new apron!
CHALLENGE ACCOMPLISHMENT # 19
THE RESOLUTION: Swim
I swam (January 27th)
The very reason for the creation of ThirteenSquared, swimming. There isn't much more to outline outside of the commitment I submitted in the original 13 Resolutions: challenge must be involve 20 minutes of actual exercise.
So what did I learn from my first swimming completion:
- Chlorine really stinks... like for a long time!
- Going for an hour with friends who like taking breaks between every lap definitely dissolves the work part of the 'workout' :)
CHALLENGE ACCOMPLISHMENT # 20
THE RESOLUTION: Read
Many Lives, Many Masters (Completed January 30th)
The first of 13 books is the true story of psychotherapist Brian L. Weiss, M.D. and the client who turned him from a man of science to a believer. Using hypnotherapy, he opened the door to communication and treatment by exploring reincarnation and using 'past-life therapy' to improve and understand our current life struggles. This book was suggested to me by a Taiwanese woman and Dao teacher. I spent several months visiting her in her tiny shop full of traditional Asian artifacts at a downtown Hamilton mall. I was interested in learning about alternative ways of living and thinking that could lessen the chaos in our lives. So each week we gathered, often with one of her children as an interpreter, to challenge to ways we often react to our environment and redirect the energy into more positive pathways.

One woman. One year. 21 down. 148 to go.
Random Challenge #3 for you Kari: blog every day for 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteIt's opposite of no internet for a week. Your welcome :) haha
Please suh, may I have some more?
ReplyDeleteI realize you're busy traipsing across the country and such (and wtf, traipsing is actually a word?), but you haven't written in weeks you bum.
The pressure! Ah the pressure :OOO
DeleteI wanna cry about it but I THANK YOU! After all, I created this whole blog for the accountability of the matter. I haven't stopped fulfilling the challenges believe me. (More than 50 DONE!) But the writing lags as so many other projects pile.
Your challenge is nothing short of grandiose for sure. But it is a perfect kick in the ass to catch up to myself. That's 14 new entries in just a short time! I ACCEPT.
